This year we were blessed with having my parents take us on a week long vacation!! Destination Door County, Sturgeon Bay to be specific! My parents rented a lake house for the week that came equipped with kayaks, a tandem bike, tons of outside games, fire pit and dock right in the back yard! Who could ask for more fun! Seriously my parents provided us with a vacation that was simply amazing! :) I am late in posting about this vacation because life has been so chaotic and crazy lately but I hope you enjoy. Plus, the real point of this blog to so that the kids can look back some day and remember all of the fun they had growing up! So, there is going to be a crazy amount of pics in the upcoming blog entries! So, be forewarned! :)
The ride up to Door County was about 5 1/2 hours. It was LONG but the kids were excellent the entire time! We started the vacation off with a bang...literally! Mike crashed right into a huge hawk right as we entered Wisconsin! Sure enough it dented the front of the van! LOL. It would not be a Dergance vacation if something crazy didnt happen! Hitting a hawk at 75mph can be pretty traumatic! I am just glad no one was hurt...except the bird! LOL
When we finally arrived, the kids could not wait 30 seconds to get their swim suits on and head for the lake, so that is exactly what we did! :) Here are the kids with giant smiles as we went down the dock to scope out the lake!

A day would not be complete unless Julia was dancing! So, here is Juls and Joe dancing out on the back steps of the house! LOL
Overall the first day included us taking a brief swim in the lake, realizing we had to get to a store for some food and water shoes! LOL. I am still traumatized from Florida early 90s trip when Sarah almost lost a toe in the Atlantic, so now I do not go in bodies of water w/o water shoes!
So, we headed to town to scope out the area, stop at the store and grab some dinner! By the time we got home, it was late and we relaxed in the back by the lake and went to bed! We were the first round of arrivals so we were excited to wake up to Bammy, Papa and Tony were were goign to be arriving in the middle of the night! :)
