Jack at Daycare

As most of you know, Jack started daycare on May 21st when I started my internship. The first day especially was really hard for him. He cried from 10:30am until 3:30pm when I picked him up. It broke my heart driving up to the driveway and seeing him sitting on a blanket outside just screaming his head off!

After talking to Tammy, his babysitter I discovered that she tried to lay him down in a crib--which would be appropriate for any other 1 year old but since he boycots all cribs he freaked out from that point forward and refused to sleep. By the time we picked him up he could barely hold his head up he was so tired!

The next day Tammy did not try to lay him in the crib and instead told him to lay on the cot like a big boy and sure enough he took a nap for like 2 hrs! Since that day he has been doing wonderful there! He is a good eater, good sleeper and he plays really well with all of the other children.

It's really funny becuase lately when they are playing outside Tammy has to bring Jack's little cot outside because he'll just randomly go over to his cot and take a little nap and then when he's rested he joins the other kids and plays! It is so funny how he acts there! He would NEVER take a nap on his own free will at home!!!

I am so glad that he is there and playing so well with the other kids! He is also learning all kinds of things there like how to play itsy bitsy spider and tons of other songs. It was funny because the other day my mom said "we should teach jack itsy bitsy spider" and as soon as she started singing it he started making hand movements for the spider and for 'down came the rain' and we were super amazed! AFter talking to Tammy I found out that that is one of their circle time songs! After only 2 weeks he is already picking up on the movements to the songs! I am so glad that he is there!

He had a checkup yesterday at Dr. Louie's office and he weights 28 lbs and is 31 1/2 inches long! What a big boy! Dr. Louie said that he would like to send Jack to an allergist in Peoria to try to see if we can figure out what some of his triggers for RAD (reactive airway disease) may be so we can better control it. So at some point we will be heading down to do that! Overall though, he is quite healthy! :)
